Transitional Places

Bringing together rival traditions – from the psychoanalysis of transitional objects (Klein) and the idioms of trauma (Freud) to the sociology of ceremonies or rituals (Van Gennep and Turner), to the ego-histoire of lieux de memoire and the jurisprudence of jurisdiction – this project studies what Peter Rush calls ‘affective justice’ in the aftermath of conflict.
